The erroneous portrayal of another person's words, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work is known as plagiarism. It occurs when an author uses someone else’s work whether text, data, figures, or concepts without proper acknowledgment or citation. This can happen with or without the original author’s permission, but in both cases, it is considered unethical and unacceptable in academic publishing.

In addition to traditional plagiarism, we also recognize self-plagiarism as a serious issue. An author commits self-plagiarism when they reuse portions of their own previously published work without properly citing the source. Reusing text, figures, or data from previous publications without clearly stating that they were previously published is an example of this. It is against ethical publishing standards to submit a manuscript that contains duplicate content from the author's previous work without providing appropriate citations. We take plagiarism very seriously at the Chinese Journal of Cardiology. Using reliable plagiarism detection software, all submitted manuscripts are checked for plagiarism. If any form of plagiarism is detected, the submission may be rejected outright or sent back to the author for necessary corrections. If plagiarism is identified after publication, the article may be retracted, and the author’s future submissions may be affected.

Authorship Obligations Authors must guarantee the following when submitting an article to the Chinese Journal of Cardiology: Their manuscript is free from any copied data, figures, or content from previously published research (including their own work).

Proper citations and references are provided for any work, data, or concepts borrowed from other sources.Permission should be obtained from the copyright owner if any previously published content, such as images, tables, or excerpts, is included. At the time of submission, the work is original, conducted in an ethical manner, and has not been published elsewhere. Plagiarism not only damages an author’s academic reputation but also undermines the integrity of scientific publishing. By submitting authentic, properly cited, and cited work, we encourage authors to adhere to the highest standards of research ethics.
